Wirral Chamber’s ‘Young Chamber’ scheme has become the benchmark for British Chambers after a wildly successful year in 2016. The success of the program has lead to it being rolled out across the rest of the UK in 2017.
A pilot year has seen Wirral Young Chamber successfully deliver five huge interactive and innovative Careers Inspiration Events across Wirral. These, combined with the other smaller interventions reached no less than 2000 young people from across the borough.
Wirral has also been the first Young Chamber in the country to successfully engage and incorporate the Primary School Sector within the programme, offering a chance for us to gently introduce the World of Work to those into Key Stage 2.
Young Chamber events have given each of those in attendance the opportunity to access, meet and network with business leaders from across the region, go ‘behind the scenes’ at a range of business environments, take part in Young Chamber Debates around current and relevant topics affecting the business world today and take part in Young Chamber Enterprise events within their own school.
Over 60 businesses have engaged and supported with Young Chamber events within the first year which has been a great CPD opportunity for staff and apprentices.
Due to the phenomenal success of the scheme Wirral Borough Council are supporting our programme and have funded it within 22 of the Wirral’s Secondary Schools for the 2016 / 2017 Academic year.
