A week of festive gift wrapping in Birkenhead was the icing on the Christmas cake for a group of volunteers from Progress to Excellence. Staff joined the annual Claire House charity wrap at The Pyramids shopping centre which raised more than £1,300.
Damian Burdin, chief executive at Progress to Excellence Ltd, said:
"Once again, our generous workforce volunteered to spend their own time at The Pyramids as shoppers brought Christmas gifts to be wrapped and to donate to the hospice, our charity of the year. “Fundraising for the hospice is a cause our entire workforce has thrown itself into with heart and soul during the past 12 months and volunteering at the wrapping station was a fitting end to a remarkable year of giving something back to our local community.”
A total of £16,000 has been raised for Claire House by Progress to Excellence in 2016, by far the company's greatest single initiative to help a local charity. Damian added: “Staff themselves chose Claire House as charity of the year after hearing of the amazing work there. A visit to the hospice, meeting staff, volunteers and young people, only added to their enthusiasm to get behind this massive fundraising challenge. “Progress to Excellence has a culture of giving back to the local community and this result is testament to the time, energy and dedication from everyone.”
A sum of almost £12,000 was raised from the annual Progress to Excellence Training and Education Awards in the summer and £1,400 was proceeds of takings from No.4 Pacific Road, the Progress to Excellence bistro which provided refreshments at the recent Fabulous Frost Fair at Pacific Road Business Hub.
Jessica Campbell, corporate fundraiser at Claire House, added:
"We are so grateful to staff at Progress to Excellence for giving up their time to volunteer for Claire House.“The team raised an incredible £1,319.99 to support seriously and terminally ill children and their families this Christmas. It was a wonderful way to end a fantastic year's partnership.”
