Wirral Chamber of Commerce has announced the launch of Wirral Enterprise Hub, a new European-funded programme of support, mentoring and business advice for the area’s would-be entrepreneurs.
This exciting collaboration between Wirral Chamber of Commerce, The Johnson Foundation and Wirral Council is set to significantly increase new start-ups in Wirral, which regularly features in top ten lists for the levels of new business registrations.
Working as a delivery partner of The Women’s Organisation’s Liverpool City Region-wide programme, Wirral Chamber will provide fully funded support to enable hundreds of entrepreneurs of all ages to turn their startup ideas into viable businesses.
The Enterprise Hub will work with more than 325 local residents over the next two years, acting as a catalyst to support a diverse range of new businesses from micro and lifestyle through to innovative, high-growth businesses with the potential to develop in national and international markets.
This project aims to take a fresh, creative and collaborative approach to business support. Key to the programme are the team of in-house advisors and business coaches from across the chamber network who between them have a wealth of skills and commercial experience at senior levels, nationally and internationally across a diverse range of industry sectors.
These highly qualified business coaches and specialist mentors will provide aspiring business people with a mix of one-to-one sessions, ongoing workshops and peer-to-peer support.
The Enterprise Hub will be based in the Pacific Road Creative & Digital Enterprise Hub ‘The Sheds’ in Birkenhead - one of the Chamber’s three managed business workspaces in the town.
Speaking following the announcement, Paula Basnett, CEO of Wirral Chamber commented: “As the Local Growth Hub for the borough, Wirral Chamber is uniquely placed to deliver this project. For entrepreneurs to be based in a Chamber-managed hub with access to all of our added value services, is something very powerful. They’ll interact with our veteran business start-up and growth advisers while receiving support from independent business mentors, who will provide a solid network that Wirral’s start-ups can leverage as they evolve their business.”
