Wirral creative design agency Whitfield Business Support announces three new hires

Wirral creative design agency Whitfield Business Support is announcing ambitious expansion plans after making three new hires. 

The Heswall firm has appointed Digital Architect Mark Pollard, Business Relationship Manager Del Willden and Property Manager Kate Verdin-Walsh to the team. 

Co-owners Justine McLaughlin and Nik Ellis set up the firm in 2015 delivering a broad range of marketing services including graphic design, website design, email marketing and social media support. Justine said the new recruits bring a ‘fresh perspective’ to the firm and will be working in collaboration to support client delivery. They also bring greater diversity with a depth of experience across retail, hospitality and professional services.

“This is our boldest recruitment drive yet bringing a number of highly qualified individuals into our team,” she said. “Del comes to us with more than 25 years’ experience working for British Airways and further media experience working for Wirral Radio. His skills in customer service will be used to great effect in our ‘first impressions’ department and to support delivery to our client base.

“Kate is well known in our local community as the former owner of Vanilla Lounge and for her passion of SMEs. She really understands the business ethos at Whitfield, what it takes to bring a community together and the rigorous demands of running a business. Her role as Property Manager will involve working closely with our fixed tenants in Whitfield Business Hub as well as managing our first impressions team.

“Our third appointment will see Mark, a former solicitor of 15 years and small business owner, taking on the role of Digital Architect. Again, our relationship with Mark goes back many years and we feel he is an ideal fit for the business. We have given Mark a flexible, roving role where he can use his wide-ranging skills in law to software development and design. Mark’s strength lies in his methodical approach to business strategy. He is currently reviewing our company structures, processes and documents to drive productivity and will be using his broad knowledge to support our clients.”

Co-owner Nik Ellis said the staff investment comes at an exciting time after recently celebrating a third anniversary and surpassing 200 client accounts.

Del said: “I’ve got to know Nik and Justine well over the years through my role at Wirral Radio. I’ve always been impressed by the way they operate and Whitfield always struck me as an excellent place to work. I was drawn to the role as Business Relationship Manager because it gives me flexibility to work right across the business with new and existing clients. It’s an opportunity for me to use all of my skills and ensure Whitfield delivers a consistently high level of customer service across the board.”

Mark said: “I recently made a big decision to leave a career in law, so I could pursue my real passion in the design and creative world. I have a background in coding, graphic design, web and software development and I’m fascinated by the process of using technology and creative design to optimise business functions. It’s an enriching experience helping business to grow.

“During my sabbatical I was drawn to Whitfield because it’s such a fun, vibrant and dynamic place to work. The role is also ideal for me because I can work in lots of different areas and every single day is different. While I’m working on Whitfield’s strategy, I’m also working with existing clients and bringing my own accounts on board. There’s a good balance as my background allows me to provide input in variety of areas while our talented design and technical team are able to execute the strategy.”
