Wirral Chamber of Commerce has hosted its first Business Leaders Breakfast event of the year enabling engagement by bringing together like-minded business people and entrepreneurs across Wirral.
The early morning meeting at the headquarters of Sovex Systems in Prenton attracted a number of manufacturing related companies and leading business people participating in a forum discussing issues such as sharing best practice, skills and supply chains development, and export links and guidance.
David Lindfield, Managing Director of Sovex Systems – which hosted the breakfast in partnership with Wirral Chamber – gave a presentation on the development of his company and his thoughts about future business growth.
Sovex Systems specialise in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of conveyor systems and is on track for another double digit increase in turnover over the next 12 months, taking its revenues to around £25m. UK Mail, one of its longstanding customers has kick-started that growth plan with a multi-million pound order placed at the start of the year.
It recently invested in a 20,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Kluang, Malaysia which allows Sovex to manage its own supply chain and offer shorter lead times to customers.
Amongst the companies which took part were senior management from Heap and Partners, AJB Fabrications, Typhoo Tea, DT&G Ltd, Stanton Belting, Machfab, Steibel Eltron UK, Manufacturing Advisory Service, and NAC Group.
Wirral Chamber CEO, Paula Basnett added, “The Business Leaders Breakfast is key area of engagement which Wirral Chamber will be developing in different sectors during 2014 looking at issues of the day and knowledge exchange which our membership will find beneficial. We were delighted to work closely with Sovex in making this event so successful.”
George Smith, Site Manager at NAC Group’s Bromborough based training centre, found the event very helpful in meeting and engaging with colleagues in the manufacturing sector, he said, “Wirral Chamber's Business Leaders Breakfast was a great opportunity to meet with a number of leading businesses to discuss issues facing the manufacturing sector, and importantly, how best we can all work closer together in developing links and a more effective supply chain network."
