Thornton Hall Hotel in Wirral is to create 17 new jobs after major investment in stunning new spa facilities.
The four-star hotel in Thornton Hough has spent £300,000 on new luxury treatment rooms and make-up studios, with £100,000 coming from the region's £1million Business Booster Fund.
The Business Booster Fund - part of the Government's £2.4bn Regional Growth Fund - aims to help SME businesses that are looking to grow, create jobs and support the local economy. Thornton Hall Hotel submitted a successful application to the fund with assistance from Birkenhead-based chartered accountants and business advisors McEwan Wallace. The hotel has invested £100,000 while Barclays Bank matched this with a further £100,000.
Andrew Thompson, Chairman of Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa, said: "This is a fantastic development for the hotel with even more facilities to add to our award-winning spa. Thornton Hall Hotel is a big employer for Wirral and the fact that we are able to create 17 more jobs is great news.
"Our spa is already widely regarded as one the finest in the North West. These new facilities include the luxury Rasul treatment rooms - based on a traditional Arabian cleansing ritual using thermal muds - and a state-of-the-art boutique make up studio which will offer a range of beauty treatments including nails, hair, make-up and jewellery.
"These opened at the start of July and will further enhance the luxury spa experience for our guests - whether it be pamper afternoon for friends or a spa hen party - who will be able to treat themselves to an even wider range of beauty and holistic treatments all under one roof."
Mr Thompson said Phase One of the development will enable the hotel to take on ten more staff in July, while seven more jobs will be created by December through further extension of the spa with more luxury facilities as part of Phase Two of the development.
Mr Thompson added: "We are grateful to Alastair Gould, partner at McEwan Wallace, for guiding us through the detailed application and funding process and Barclays Bank for match funding. We have strong ambitions to continue to grow and offer a first-class experience for guests and visitors, while providing sustainable employment for scores of people from across the Wirral."
Alastair Gould from McEwan Wallace said: "At McEwan Wallace we have years of experience in assisting companies to put together funding and business plans and we are delighted to have supported Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa's application through to a successful conclusion, particularly as the investment will create numerous new jobs for local people."
