If you enjoyed the fantastic River of Light event, well the fun on Wirral doesn’t stop there! We are now officially on the countdown to Christmas!
The team at the business improvement district, Birkenhead BID, in conjunction with Wirral Chamber of Commerce will be bringing you a festive fun filled array of events for all. This year will see ‘The Gift of Christmas’ coming to Birkenhead, which across the next four weeks, will be bringing a number of events, all of which carry the message of The Gift.
Working with partners across Birkenhead, Birkenhead BID will be promoting how the Town Centre is a Gift in its entirety, whether as a space to do business or for communities to come together.
The Gift of Christmas commences with the Birkenhead Town Centre Christmas Light Switch On, the event taking place on Friday 23 November in Grange Road. It will open at 4pm and will offer something for everyone leading up to the switch on of the Town Centre lights.
The switch on is being supported by Capital Radio, and an evening of performances from the Liverpool City Region’s best talent, including The Merseyboys, performances from the incredible talent at The Hive, The Rock Choir, plus an amazing headline artist not to be missed.
Paula Basnett, CEO of Wirral Chamber of Commerce and Chair of Birkenhead BID Steering Group said, “Christmas is a special time of year for everyone, through creating a campaign such as The Gift we are able to promote the importance of our local stronger community across our businesses, residents and visitors alike.
She added, “There is no greater gift than the gift of a stronger community. Wanting to make Birkenhead a better place resonates with us all, showing true community spirit and faith at this time of year is important.”
The Christmas Light Switch On event is just the beginning of un-wrapping The Gift of Christmas in Birkenhead. Over the coming weeks, Grange Road will house a number of Pop Pp Gifts within which tasty treats will be available to help visitors and residents complete their Christmas shopping.
Gemma Nichols, Head of Birkenhead BID said, “Through creating The Gift concept, we are able to bring together our business community, residents and also offer an experience for visitors to come to Birkenhead. Our aim is through programming a number of activities wrapped around a retail experience we will increase the town centre footfall. Throughout the campaign we will be working with our local independent businesses to promote the importance of the high street and keeping it local to push the message of “use it or lose it.”
