The Echo’s prestigious Environment Awards 2017 were launched yesterday - giving people the chance to honour the efforts that are making Merseyside a greater, greener place to be. The Liverpool City Region is packed with people who care not just about the place they live - but about the entire planet itself; the awards look to recognise the efforts and considerations of people & businesses across the area to ensure their hard work doesn't go unnoticed.
The awards also provide the chance for businesses and community groups to raise awareness and gain recognition for the many green projects and initiatives underway here on Merseyside.
Each year, we have been overwhelmed with the fantastic response from local businesses, individuals, schools and community groups. All with impressive examples of how they are doing their bit for the environment, and becoming more environmentally aware.
The Echo is calling on you to tell us what you have been doing over the past year to make our city a greener, healthier place to live and work. Or nominate and encourage someone who has done.
In the search for our green champions this year, The Echo have been joined by executive sponsors; Merseyrail as well as Liverpool John Moores University, Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority and Veolia.
There are 11 awards available to enter - so something for every green business, school, project or group. They’re completely free to enter, and no project is too big - or too small. Just tell us about it
