A fast-growing North West call centre business has revealed plans to more than double turnover to £40m in the next five years.
Asif Hamid, CEO of The Contact Company (TCC), which runs telephone customer service lines for major retailers such as Argos, River Island and Superdrug, says the opening of new office at Kingsgate, Tower Wharf, Birkenhead, will be the "springboard" to major growth for the privately-owned business.
He said, “Our turnover is currently just shy of £20m but the target is to reach £40m by 2021 with an EBITDA of between £7m-£8m. Our headcount is around 1,500 but that’s only going to grow as we move forward. We celebrate our 10th anniversary in 2016 and now we’ve got the infrastructure in place to take The Contact Company to the next level."
TCC works with more than 20 businesses and aims to be more than just an out-sourced call handling operation.
Hamid, who is also the vice chairman of Liverpool city region LEP and chairman of Wirral Chamber of Commerce, said the firm’s clients see TCC as a “seamless extension” of their own business.
"The vision for the business is to carry on growing profitably and bring in clients who we want to work with,” he said. “We want to create new job opportunities. Our reputation is second to none. We’ve never lost a client since we’ve been trading and that’s the best endorsement you can get. We add value to our customers’ offer."
The new building is 48,000 sq ft four-storey Grade A office building, which cost £11m to develop. A further £5m has been spent on kitting the building out and installing the latest technology.
Hamid added: "Our staff probably spend more time at work than at home so we wanted a building to reflect that. It had to be the right standard and the right space. It’s a glass-fronted building with iconic views. People always say the best way to see Liverpool waterfront is from across the water and you can do that from here.
"Liverpool city region has just signed a £900m devolution deal and successful companies like TCC reinforce the business strength of the area."
