Liverpool City Region Insider Property Award winners named

Landmark deals, major schemes and pioneering developers were recognised at the Liverpool City Region Property Awards held at the Titanic Hotel. Attendees heard from guest speaker Richard Kenyon, director of marketing, communications and community at Everton FC, and the event was compered by ballroom dancing and TV star Anton du Beke. Associate sponsors were Lovell Partnerships, Macbryde Homes and Redwing, while the award sponsors were DTM Legal and Pegasus Group. Furnish That Room sponsored the drinks reception.

Residential Development of the Year
Winner: Callenders Green, Knowsley (Stewart Milne Homes, North West)
An example of regenerating a brownfield site, the Callenders Green development in Prescot, Knowsley, brings forward 68 new homes. The judges commended Stewart Milne for supporting the overall strategy of the borough in terms of creating an attractive place to live and work and delivering much-needed family housing.

Commercial Development of the Year

Winner: Mere Grange, St Helens (Network Space, Homes England, St Helens Council, Liverpool City Region Combined Regional Authority)
Mere Grange is a mixed-use development comprising office, industrial and residential uses. Work is under way on phase four of the scheme and the site which is now 60 per cent let. The judges were impressed that the site is attracting new business into the area and creating new jobs in the wider city region.

Residential Property Deal of the Year
Winner: Acquisition of the stalled Baltic House residential scheme in Liverpool by Crossfield Exclusive Developments
The judges deliberated at length about this category which shortlisted three very worthy deals. Ultimately the judges admired the risks Crossfield took in taking such a complex project and making it viable.

Commercial Property Deal of the Year
Winner: Pre-letting of 84,282 sq ft to Twickenham Studios (Capital & Centric)
This is a "hugely significant" deal in terms of its impact, said the judges. It will kick-start the redevelopment of the iconic former Littlewoods Pools building, which has stood vacant for over a decade and a half. Despite the west wing of the property and the clock tower suffering fire-damage in October, the blaze was contained to this area and the site is still expected to be up and running in 2020. The film industry is big business in Liverpool and this deal also supports the launch of the Liverpool's new Film Fund.

Creation of Wirral Growth Company (Muse Developments, Wirral Council)

Winner: Peel Land & Property
Delivering on the masterplan, investing and unlocking sites, Peel is bringing confidence to the city region, said the judges. During the past year, seven major projects have started on site at Liverpool Waters, while a number of public realm projects were completed at Wirral Waters during the period.
