Tell us about your company?
ImagePlay provides film and video production services in and around the Merseyside and Liverpool City Region, but increasingly our services have been required by a diverse range of companies, organisations and people throughout the UK and internationally. I suppose the reason for our popularity is that as a company we take time to make sure that we understand what’s important and what makes you and your brand tick. (from l/r Nick Murphy and Chris Wright)
Our experience in the media marketplace enables us to work across all industries, creating company, product and promotional films, news coverage, highlights of your event, music videos (and other entertainments) and with our specialist equipment, capturing footage from the air and creating the most realistic of animations. The aerial video technology is an area we have taken on board and through using unmanned aerial vehicles, UAV’s, we can provide spectacular video footage enhancing the branding and marketing of our clients.
To get an idea of how this aerial imagery works please see this ImagePlay showreel illustrating the effectiveness of this new aerial production.

What is your background
With too many years of experience that we’d like to reveal, both Nick and myself both came from a background of service and sales, combined with experience within the entertainment industry. Nick worked for over 30 years in telecommunications whilst I spent many years working globally in Information Technology. What brought us together to form ImagePlay? We both have a strong creative leaning, and this combined with a high level of life skills, our business has been developed by both of us in having the highest standards of output and the ability to understand and quickly get the best out of the people we work with.
If you could suggest one thing to Government to help business growth what would it be?
In this economy it can take several years to get a business to a viable, stable state where customers feel comfortable in doing business with them. During this time cash flow is critical. Unsecured low interest loans from the banks would help start-ups up and over that fledgling period. Match loans/funding would be ideal.
What do you do to relax away from the office
Chris: I have two grandchildren and two businesses so I don’t get time to relax! But it’s something I will certainly be working on in the future.
Nick: I like to eat out and watch films.
What hobbies do you have?
Chris: If I were allowed to have hobbies I’d play video games and my dusty guitar!
Nick: I play in an ABBA Tribute band and when time allows and I also like to go out on bike rides and on my skateboard (and no I'm not 9!)
What one piece of advice would you give an 18 years old Chris and Nick starting out today?
Be your own boss. Find out what you want to do and become the best at it.
Any final thoughts?
Chris: If I had the opportunity to do what I’m doing now 30 years ago I’d have jumped at the chance. Unfortunately it was cost prohibitive. We are constantly moving forward on a meandering path, learning new skills, meeting new people, and facing new challenges. Its great to see someone on the TV and say ‘I’ve interviewed them!’
Nick: I remember leaving school for the first time at 16 and saying, ‘Thank goodness I’m out of education’ ….. nearly 40 years later I’m still learning!
