10th May 2019 is the second Visitor Economy Forum of the year. The purpose of the Wirral Chamber of Commerce Forums is to provide a platform for all of our members to collaborate, debate, inform and maximise on opportunities that exist in our region.
With that in mind, the Agenda that our speakers will be highlighting is ; “ Working together to explore how Wirral Businesses can maximise on the Commercial impact of Culture and Sport”
As you all know 2019 is an exciting time for Wirral as we celebrate being awarded Borough of Culture status. The events and exhibitions planned across Wirral have been designed to showcase our amazing coastline, heritage, and sporting events, and what a great opportunity for everyone to get involved!
Kate Eugeni, Director of Destination Marketing for Wirral Chamber will open the VE Forum with a welcome and introductions to the speakers.
Paul Askew, Chef Patron of The Art School Restaurant and Chair of the Wirral Visitor Economy Board is delighted to reveal the introduction of an annual Food and Drink Festival in Birkenhead Park, starting this September. He would also like to share the ingredients of what makes Wirral special, and how we can all play a part in creating a legacy for Wirral to build upon in years to come.
Melanie Lewis, Executive Director of Commercial and Business Development at National Museums Liverpool will share their new leadership & strategic vision. There is a focus on the role of the Lady Lever Art Gallery which is based on the Wirral, and the NML team wish to highlight the economic and social impact of culture on our society and businesses, and how businesses can engage and be inspired to work with the North West’s largest cultural organisation.
Tour of Britain and the OVO Energy Tour Series are set to take Wirral by storm this May and September. Peter Hodges, Marketing Director for The Tour will be presenting how local businesses can benefit from this huge cycling event, and will offer inspiring reasons as to how every business can get involved.
To close, Mike Dewey, General Manager for Leasowe Castle Hotel would like to highlight his partnership with Wirral Chamber, to update all members on the facilities on offer at Leasowe for business/personal use, and to offer a tour of the Hotel for any groups interested. Mike will also be announcing how Leasowe Castle is set to host Wirral’s premier music festival, Skeleton Coast, for the second consecutive year on Saturday, August 31 as part of its ongoing events offering.
