Wirral Met College is the largest provider of further education in the Wirral and covers all of the key areas of post 16 education from classroom based further education to apprenticeships, higher apprenticeships and degrees.
The College is backed by some of the best training facilities in the UK, in particular within the Science, Engineering, Digital and Construction fields and is a key provider of skills for the local area’s economy. Approximately 10,000 students are taught each year within the College which includes 2,000 full-time 16-18 year olds and 1,000 apprentices at any one time.
Wirral Met works with public and private sector organisations to deliver apprenticeships and traineeships, work experience placements, supported internships and continuing professional development courses.
Our Business Networks and Development team supports organisations across the Liverpool City Region with training needs analysis and can advise on funding opportunities to support investment in workforce development, in order to provide a tangible return on investment. Wirral Met has access to Skills for Growth funding provided via the Skills Funding Agency’s Growth Deals project. Companies in the Liverpool City Region which employ fewer than 249 staff can use the funding to support workforce development.
Wirral Met also works in partnership with the University of Chester, the University of Liverpool and University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) providing high quality, value for money university level courses including Higher National Certificate (HNC), Higher National Diploma (HND), Foundation Degree and Degree programmes.

Wirral Met operates from four main campuses: Conway Park Campus, Twelve Quays Campus and Wirral Waters Campus in Birkenhead and the Oval Campus in Bebington.
In September 2015, our new Wirral Waters Campus opened in Birkenhead, dedicated to Construction and the Built Environment, and is home to our Business Networks and Development team. This complements our Conway Park and Twelve Quays Campuses in Birkenhead, and The Oval Campus in Bebington. Our new Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths (STEM) Centre opened in June 2016 with specialist science laboratories, engineering equipment and robotics / mechatronics resources.
Wirral Met provides a wide range of Continuing Professional Development courses and workshops which can be customised to meet employers’ specific needs.
Wirral Met College supports approximately 500 new apprenticeship starts per year and offers over 100 apprenticeship frameworks.
