The 2014 Regional Business Person of the Year, Asif pioneers new approaches to customer contact, having redefined standards of service for small-to-medium sized businesses since establishing The Contact Company in 2006.  His industry knowledge has led his input to be sought by local and national commercial organisations as well as members of parliament.  Demonstrating his commitment to business in the North-West, Asif sits on several regional boards, including the Deputy Chair of the Liverpool City Region LEP, Non-Executive Director of Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, and is Chair of Wirral Chamber of Commerce.  He is always keen to share his expertise and industry knowledge with his team members to ensure his passion for quality customer contact is represented throughout the business going forward.

With over 25 years supporting business development in Wirral, Paula brings that experience and commitment in developing services and support to encourage growth and economic prosperity. Never one to stand still, she has been at the forefront for many successful business initiatives, encouraging her team to work closely within Wirral’s business community. By using her drive, leadership qualities and great experience for the benefit of the Chamber membership, she leads by example and ensures that the very best service is available at all times.

Alastair Gould

Alastair Gould

Alastair is Director of Birkenhead based McEwan Wallace, the largest firm of chartered accountants and business advisers in Wirral.  He has over 30 years of experience in dealing with owner-managed businesses and small to medium size companies with a particular emphasis on tax planning, tax efficient profit extraction and exit route planning. He has an unrivalled knowledge of current issues effecting business and uses this to advise companies based on their individual needs and specific sector conditions.  He is a member of the ICAEW and Chartered Tax Institute, Vice Chair of Wirral Chamber of Commerce and Chair of the Business Investment District.

Sue Higginson

Sue Higginson

Sue has vast experience in the Further Education Sector, having decided to move from industry into a career in education. Sue joined Wirral Met College as a Course Tutor for the Informatics Degree Programme and she has worked her way through every level of the organisation. Sue was appointed Principal of the Wirral Metropolitan College in 2012, having been a member of the College’s senior team for over six years, where she has led the College’s agendas on Quality Improvement, Partnership and Business Development.

John Syvret

John is Chief Executive of Birkenhead based Cammell Laird, world renowned for shipbuilding.  Under John's leadership, the company has rapidly expanded and diversified as a cutting edge engineering services specialist. Its highly skilled workforce and extensive world-class facilities support a broad range of sectors and projects. It has developed its capability in the marine sector and is a world leader specialising in military ship refits, commercial ship repair, upgrade, conversion and shipbuilding. The business is further active in the industrial services and energy sector and has become a hub of the offshore wind industry seeing major investment in its port side infrastructure and facilities. The company is also working in the civil nuclear sector where it has built upon its core engineering strengths.

Kevin Adderley

Kevin Adderley

Kevin Adderley was the Strategic Director for Regeneration and Environment at Wirral Council.  He joined the Council in 2005 having previously spent 29 years as a civil servant working for various government departments largely focusing on key areas including employment, skills and inclusion issues.  He was an instrumental player in the design of the government’s welfare to work programme and the creation of Job Centre Plus. With the Council, Kevin designed Wirral’s Investment Strategy in 2007 and has since driven it forward with significant success.  Kevin left the Council in 2015 and has now joined Egerton House (Wirral) Ltd as its Group Managing Director.

Rafael Willisch

Rafael is the Managing Director of Finsa UK Ltd a company based in Wirral for more than 25 years. He has been part of the management team of the Finsa Group for more than 30 years. Finsa is a leading manufacturer of wood based panels, kitchens and laminate flooring with more than 3000 employees across Europe. Over the years he has gained vast experience working in all areas of a manufacturing company as well as in international trade. In 2011 he created Finsa's retail business, Finsahome Ltd. a company based in Birkenhead which has now 2 depots (Birkenhead and Birmingham) and is in the process of opening new depots in the south of England.

Patrick McCarthy

Patrick is the Deputy Chief Executive and Company Secretary of Magenta Living.  He has over 30 years experience of social housing, together with being a qualified accountant by profession. Patrick's teams provide the organisation with governance, legal, performance management, information technology, human resources, and finance services, together with delivering Magenta Living’s new build development programme. It is a socially responsible, not-for-profit organisation, its work involves far more than just simply bricks and mortar and its vision is about providing homes and building communities. With over 12,200 properties, Magenta Living is the largest Registered Provider of affordable housing in Wirral.
